Received a number of messages on FB and IG, requesting me to share some of my #canteenuncle recipes so here's the first one - Lu Rou Fan, or Braised Pork Belly Rice!
Disclaimer: I'm no professional chef, nor a food blogger. Just a regular Dad trying to vary daily recipes for my family while we are all stuck at home for HBL and WFH. My own special ingredient for this dish is I add a little of Caramel Sauce, which improves the taste tremendously. At least that's what my kids tell me. 😁 If you try it, do let me know how it goes! LU ROU FAN (Braised Pork Belly Rice)
INGREDIENTS
- Pork belly (500g, cut into thin pieces)
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 2-3 shallots (finely chopped)
- 2-3 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
- 3 star anise
- 6 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Hardboiled eggs
SAUCE
- 3 tablespoons light soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons caramel sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon Chinese wine
- 2 cups water
